Objectives: This study aimed to identify the relationship between self-leadership, interpersonal skills, and academic crafting among dental hygiene students in the Daejeon and Chungcheong regions. This study aimed to provide valuable data for developing teaching-learning methods and enhancing academic competency. Methods: The study targeted 177 dental hygiene students in the Daejeon and Chungcheong regions from April 3 to May 7, 2025. The final sample consisted of 177 students. The questionnaire consisted of five questions on general characteristics, 18 on self-leadership, 18 on interpersonal skills, and 13 on academic crafting. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0 with descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way ANOVA with Scheffé post-hoc tests, Pearson’s correlations, and stepwise multiple regression (p<0.05). Results: Major satisfaction and self-leadership were found to be significant factors influencing academic crafting among dental hygiene students, accounting for 39.1% of the variance in academic crafting scores. Conclusions: To enhance academic crafting in dental hygiene students, clinical simulation training and diverse teaching-learning methods should be strengthened to incorporate clinical training settings and foster interest in the major. In addition, to strengthen self-leadership, it is necessary to successfully strengthen academic capabilities by cultivating one's own proactive learning attitude through training in setting achievement goals by subject. These findings can guide future research and help improve curriculum design and hands-on training opportunities.
