This study explores the potential of “vibe coding,” an AI-assisted, no-code development method, to empower pre-service elementary school teachers to design and implement English educational apps. The study was conducted with 53 participants from a university of education who were provided guided training using ChatGPT and Qwen to develop HTML-based educational apps. Participants designed apps incorporating diverse language skills, such as vocabulary, listening, and writing, as well as gamification and digital scaffolding techniques. The results showed that non-programmers could effectively develop functional apps using natural language prompts and that their theoretical understanding of English education significantly influenced the quality of their educational outputs. Survey responses further revealed that participants recognized the importance of AI and digital literacy as key competencies for future teachers. In conclusion, this study demonstrates the strong pedagogical potential of vibe coding in fostering teacher agency, creativity, and adaptive expertise in technology-integrated education.
