Reforms in Generative Grammar and Changes in Syntactic Analysis

Recently, there have been theoretical reforms in generative grammar including thorough reformulation of Merge. As a result, Merge is renamed MERGE by Chomsky (2019a,b) to exclude old misunderstandings around the former. From the historical perspective, there were changes in syntactic description and analysis whenever theoretical refor- mulation was done in generative grammar. Thus, also with the recent reforms in generative grammar many changes in syntactic analysis are invoked. In this regard, this paper examines the gist of the recent reforms in generative grammar and takes a look at how they affect old syntactic analysis by briefly reviewing Y.-H. Kim’s (2023) analysis of Korean multiple object constructions.
