배우자 인연의 중시로서 궁합(宮合)에 관한 고찰

A Consideration on Partner Compatibility with Emphasis on Spousal Relationships

선남선녀가 만나 가정을 이루는 혼인(婚姻)과 같은 일생의 중대한 행사 경우에는 미리 그 길흉 여부를 판단해보려는 경향이 시대를 초월하여 매우 강하다. 궁합(宮合)의 본래 의미는 혼인을 앞둔 남녀의 사주(四柱)를 가지고 배우자 운(運) 을 미리 알아보고 그 길흉을 판단하려는 것이다. 그러나 현대사회에서는 궁합을혼인하려는 남녀 간의 관계에만 적용하는 게 아니라 부모 자식 사이나 형제간, 친구나 동료·동업자, 고용주와 종업원 간의 관계 등에도 확대 적용하고 있다. 단순한 친구와 연인 사이에서도 궁합을 보는 일이 흔해졌으며, 특정한 인간관계의궁합을 봐서 자신에게 이익이 되는지 손해가 되는지를 확인하려는 경향도 짙어졌다. 배우자 인연의 중시로서 궁합에 집중해서 본다면, 남녀의 생년월일시 사주모두를 서로 대조해서 궁합을 봐야 한다는 것에 관해서는 대부분 동의하면서도그 구체적인 방법에 있어서는 약간씩 차이를 보이고 있다. 그러나 궁극적으로 중화(中和)를 최상의 이치로 여기고 달성하고자 하는 점에서는 모두 같다. 부부 궁합의 길흉을 판단함에 있어서 배우자의 궁(宮)과 성(星)은 모두 중요하지만, 배우자궁인 일지(日支)는 배우자가 머무는 집이라 할 수 있기 때문에 배우자 궁(宮)이 성(星)보다 더욱 중요하다.

The original meaning of partner compatibility, which is known as Gung-Hap, is to examine the Four Pillars of Destiny for each member of a couple before marriage, and figure out how the relationship would work in the future. However, in modern society, Gung-Hap has expanded its scope to various relationships, such as between parents and children, siblings, friends, colleagues, business partners, employers and employees, and beyond. It is no longer strange to check partner compatibility with friends and lovers, and even more, people are more likely to assess partner compatibility in social relationships to understand if these relationships could be beneficial or not. When it comes to partner compatibility in spousal relationships, there has been a common ground that the Four Pillars of Destiny including birth year, month, day, and hour of each member of the couple have to be cross- examined, but the approaches are slightly different. Though, all approaches share the same goal, of balance (中和) as the ultimate value. For determining and judging the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of spousal compatibility, both Gung((宮) and Sung(星) of the spouse are considered important, but since the spouse’s Ilji(日支) could be deemed as the dwelling place of the spouse, Gung((宮) of the spouse takes precedence over Sung(星).
