In the race for technological supremacy, securing and managing female talent in engineering is crucial for gaining a competitive edge. This study aims to develop a prototype Role Model-Portfolio system to encourage female university students to pursue engineering fields. The study also evaluated the experiences of system users to clarify the usefulness of the role model-portfolio system. The system was developed to enable female students to find role models, set them as career goals, and record their activities towards achieving these goals, thereby accumulating content and reflecting on their growth. The system was designed to track the achievement rates of users’ activities systematically. Users evaluated the system as “generally satisfactory” in terms of both service quality and system usability, and the satisfaction analysis results also showed “generally satisfactory” ratings for both the system and career competency domains. The results of this study contribute to the effective use of career portfolios in career development for female engineering students, proposing a system that encourages self-directed university life and planned learning for further career exploration after graduation.
