실크스크린을 활용한 옻칠 장신구 제작 연구

A Study on the Production of Ottchil Jewelry Using Silk Screen

K-컬처의 확산과 함께 전통공예에 대한 관심이 상승하고 있으며, MZ세대 사이에서는 전통문화를 현대적으로 재해석하는 ‘힙트래디션’ 현상이 주목받고 있다. 전통공예의 현대화 연구는 공예문화산업의 발전을 위해서 요구된다. 전통공예 중 옻칠은 뛰어난 내구성을 지닌 친환경 천연 도료로 수백년이 지나도 고유의 색과 광택이 유지된다. 따라서 본 연구는 전통공예인 옻칠에 현대 판화기법인 실크스크린을 활용하여 장신구로 제작하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구의 방법으로는 실크스크린과 옻칠에 대해 이론적으로 고찰하고 실크스크린 판의 망 목수별로 프린트하는 실험을 통해 옻칠에 적합한 망 목수를 도출하여 자연을 모티브로 한 브로치로 제작하였다. 본 연구는 옻칠의 장식표현 기법을 확장하고 전통공예의 현대화를 시도함으로써 우리나라 공예문화산업의 발전과 세계화에 기여할 수 있는 가능성을 제시한다.

With the spread of K-culture, interest in traditional crafts is on the rise, and the “hip tradition” phenomenon, which reinterprets traditional culture in a modern way, is gaining attention among the MZ generation. A study on the modernization of traditional crafts is required for the development of the craft culture industry. Among traditional crafts, ottchil is an eco-friendly natural paint with excellent durability that maintains its unique color and gloss even after hundreds of years. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to produce ornaments using silk screen printing, a modern printing technique, on ottchil, a traditional craft. As a study method, I theoretically examined silk screen and ottchil, and through experiments on printing with different mesh counts on silk screen plates, I derived mesh counts suitable for ottchil and produced brooches with nature motifs. This study suggests the possibility of contributing to the development and globalization of Korea's craft culture industry by expanding the decorative expression techniques of ottchil and attempting to modernize traditional crafts.
