There has been a growing need to develop traditional hairstyles that maintain the beauty of heritage while appearing elegant, beautiful, and easy for the general public to wear. The currently used jjok-meori(traditional bun) fully exposes the face, which can cause discomfort for wearers—particularly those who feel self-conscious about having a broad or prominent face or about the “all-back” style. In addition, it is difficult to revert to the original hairstyle after an event, and the style is challenging to create or adjust without professional assistance. While individuals often attempt to style their hair themselves using partial wigs, pins, or nets, such methods do not address issues related to haircut, perm waves, or hair color, resulting in untidy front and back sections that detract from the neat and graceful appearance of a hanbok(traditional Korean dress) ensemble. As the use of soryebok(formal attire) increases in both daily life and ceremonial occasions, there is a need for traditional hairstyles that suit various contexts, are easy and comfortable to wear, and allow quick changes back to modern hairstyles after events. Therefore, this study developed a “double-wrapped cap-style eonjeun-meori(braid wraps around the entire head)” that offers versatility, affordability, minimal bulk, and high practicality. Most importantly, the design closely reflects authentic traditional hairstyles, enabling the preservation and modern adaptation of proper tradition in contemporary society.
