[서평] 요시다의 군중과 그 정치의 가능성: 요시다 유타카, 『갖지 못한 자들의 문학사』(2024, 보고사)를 읽고

[Review] Yoshida’s mob and the potentiality of politics : After reading the literary history of the have-nots

이 책 『갖지 못한 자들의 문학사』는 군중이란 행위 주체가 여타의 다른 행위 주체와 비교했을 때 갖는 차별화된 가능성을 독자에게 보여주고자 한다. 그렇다면 이 같은 군중에 대한 의미부여는 이 책 안에서 어떤 논리를 통해 전개되고 있는가? 또한 그 논리가 내재하는 강점과 한계는 각기 무엇인가? 필자는 이 책은 한편에서 군중의 정치적 가능성을 정동적 실천의 맥락에서 사유할 수 있는 여러 근거들을 독자들에게 제시한다는 점에서 매우 흥미롭고도 중요한 시도를 하고 있다고 본다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이 같은 강점은 이 책이 군중에 대해 보여주는 지나친 낙관론과 공존하면서 희석되고 있기도 하다. 필자는 군중에 대한 이 책의 이 같은 이중적 면모가 결과적으로 군중에 대한 정형화된 논리를 양산시킬 수 있다는 점을 중심으로 이 책을 비평해보고자 한다.

This book try to verify the following, namely, that a mob inhere a political potentiality in an avant garde way. This mob’s peculiarity is differenciated from other behavion subject, for example, mass, people, nation...etc. Then, How does this connotation unfold in this book? and What is the logical mothod’s strength and defect? I believe that this book provides for readers many examples that help us imagine the political potentiality of mob in context of affect and ethics. But at the same time, this book attenuate this strength for himself because of too much optimistic opinion about the potentiality of a mob.
