功能对等理论下《说齐》的汉英翻译的策略与路径探析

An Exploration of Strategies and Approaches for the Chinese-English Translation of Shuo Qi under Functional Equivalence Theory

With the growing momentum of Chinese culture going global, the English translation of regional cultural texts has emerged as a key topic in translation studies. Shuo Qi, as a significant document in Qi cultural studies, serves not only to disseminate traditional Chinese thought but also to enhance intercultural understanding. This paper, grounded in Eugene Nida’ s Functional Equivalence Theory, focuses on the Chinese-English translation of Part One of Chapter Seventeen from Shuo Qi, and systematically examines the process of pre-translation preparation, in-translation decision-making, and post-translation revision. Throughout the translation, the translator adhered to a reader-oriented approach, aiming to achieve functional equivalence in the treatment of historical terms, stylistic features, and textual organization. By analyzing representative cases from lexical, syntactic, stylistic, and textual perspectives, this paper demonstrates the theoretical applicability and practical relevance of functional equivalence in translating historical-cultural texts, offering useful insights for the English translation of Qi culture.

在中华文化走出去的时代背景下，中国地域文化典籍的英译成为翻译研究的重要议题。《说齐》作为齐文化的重要文献，其英译不仅有助于齐文化的国际传播，也有助于推动中外文化交流与文明互鉴。本文以奈达的功能对等理论为指导，聚焦《说齐》第十七章第一部分的汉英翻译，系统梳理了译前准备、译中处理与译后审校的全过程。在翻译实践中，译者始终坚持以目标语读者的接受效果为导向，力求在历史文化术语处理、语言风格还原和篇章结构转换等方面实现译文与原文在功能上的对等。通过从词汇、句法、文体与篇章四个维度展开的案例分析，本文进一步论证了功能对等理论在历史文化类文本英译中的适用性与实践价值，试图为齐文化英译提供理论支持与可行路径。
