Purpose – To further promote the domestication of wild Phyllanthus emblica in Guizhou, establish protected areas for Phyllanthus emblica in the Beipanjiang and Hongshui River basins, and comprehensively develop and utilize Phyllanthus emblica, this study was conducted to investigate its wild resources, habitats, and protection. Design/Methodology/Approach – The selected sites for this inspection include the Hongna River, a tributary of the Beipan River in Jiangga Township, Zhenning County, the main stream of the Beipan River in Liangtian Town, the Dongqing Reservoir area, and the low-heat river valley area in Angu Township, which is part of the Masha River basin, a tributary of the Beipan River in Qinglong County. In this investigation and preliminary study, methods such as literature research, field investigation, and mathematical statistics were employed to conduct a site-specific survey on the resource status of wild Phyllanthus emblica in the Beipan River basin of Guizhou. Findings – The investigation results indicate that the Beipan River basin is highly suitable for the growth of wild emblic. In some areas, it is distributed in continuous stripes, with plants growing well and bearing abundant fruits. The zonal vegetation includes valley montane monsoon forest, dry-prone evergreen broadleaf forest, and open shrub grassland. However, in some places, the construction of roads and the planting of economic crops such as honey plum, dragon fruit, and mango have occupied the distribution area of emblic, leading to a gradual decrease in the population of wild emblic and posing a great threat to its living environment. Research Implications – Based on the above investigation and analytical research, combined with the actual situation of the distribution areas of Phyllanthus emblica, this study proposes corresponding technical measures and methods for the protection, planting, and rational development of wild Phyllanthus emblica resources in the low-heat valleys of the Beipanjiang River Basin in Guizhou. These measures aim to provide guarantees for the industrial development of Phyllanthus emblica and the innovative utilization of germplasm resources. The research findings contribute to the protection of wild Phyllanthus emblica germplasm resources, maintain regional biodiversity, provide theoretical support for ecological environment restoration, and also provide a certain basis for the industrial development of Phyllanthus emblica, promoting the coordinated development of regional ecological, economic, and social benefits.
