Factors Influencing Professional Help-seeking Attitudes of Police Officers

본 연구는 경찰관의 전문적 도움추구 태도의 정도를 파악하고, 자기 낙인과 경찰 조직문화가 전문적도움추구 태도에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. 연구 자료는 K도 경찰청에 근무중인 경찰관 203명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지로 조사하였다. 자료 수집 기간은 2024년 6월 15일에서7월 14일이며, 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 29.0을 이용하여 빈도 및 백분율, 평균 및 표준 편차, Independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, Multiple regression으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 대상자가 ‘여성’(F=-3.690, p=.001)인 경우 ‘남성’보다 전문적 도움추구 태도에 긍정적이었으며, 자기낙인은 전문적 도움추구 태도와 부적 상관관계(r=-.365, p<.001)가 있었다. 회귀분석 결과, 전문적 도움추구 태도에 영향을 주는 요인은 성별(β=-.35, p<.001)과 자기낙인(β=.49, p=.017)이었으며, 총 설명력은15.0%(F=12.47, p<.001)로 나타났다. 그러므로 경찰관의 보다 긍정적인 전문적 도움추구 태도를 촉진하기위해서는 성별 간 차이를 고려하고, 자기낙인을 최소화하는 중재 방안을 적용할 필요가 있다.

This study aimed to identify the effects of self-stigma and police organizational culture on professional help-seeking attitudes in 203 police officers working at the K Province Police Agency. Data were collected using a self-report questionnaire from June 15 to July 14 in 2024. Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis with the SPSS 29.0 program. The results showed that female police officers (F =-3.690, p=.001) had significantly more positive attitudes toward professional help-seeking attitudes compared to male officers. Self-stigma was negatively correlated with professional help-seeking attitude (r =-.365, p<.001). Multiple regression analysis indicated that gender (β =-.35, p<.001) and self-stigma (β=.49, p=.017) were significant factors influencing professional help-seeking attitudes, with an explanatory power of 15.0% (F=12.47, p<.001). Therefore, to promote more positive help-seeking attitudes among police officers, it is necessary to consider gender differences and implement interventions aimed at reducing self-stigma.
