Background: The intersection of climate change, environmental factors, and human health is garnering growing attention in research and policy. A comprehensive review of the recent literature on climate change and health is critical to inform future research agendas and environmental health policymaking. Objectives: This study synthesizes recent research on climate change and health, with the aim of deriving implications for advancing environmental health policy. Methods: A systematic search of studies published from 2014 to 2024 was conducted from using Google Scholar with keywords including climate change and environmental health. The review incorporated articles, government reports, and international publications to capture both scientific evidence and policy guidance. Results: This study reviewed recent research on climate change and health, categorizing findings by disease types – including infectious diseases, respiratory system/allergic disease, heat-related illness, kidney disease, mental health, and cardio-cerebrovascular disease (CVD) – to examine the impacts of climate change on human health. Furthermore, this study explored classification criteria for climate change-health research. Drawing on both domestic studies and World Health Organization reports, this study proposed research topics on climate change-environment-health interface. Conclusions: The findings highlight environmental health policy implications. These encompass the advancement of climate-health monitoring and evaluation, the provision of targeted support for vulnerable populations, research-informed policy formulation, cross-sectoral collaboration, and research initiatives pertaining to Environmental Health Security.
