Research Trends and Strategies of Career Development in the Era of AI: A Text Mining and Systematic Literature Review

The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) is bringing significant changes to the paradigm of career development, requiring new directions for both individuals and organizations. This study analyzed domestic and international career development research trends and reviewed AI-related career development studies to propose strategic directions in response to the spread of AI technologies. For this purpose, topic analysis using text mining techniques was conducted on domestic and international literature, and a systematic literature review was performed on AI-related studies. The analysis showed that, first, international studies frequently used performance- and management-related keywords such as ‘management’, ‘performance’, ‘individual’, and ‘female’, while Korean studies focused more on psychological and subjective experiences, with keywords like ‘satisfaction’, ‘female’, ‘success’, and ‘commitment’. Second, international studies covered six major topics addressing strategic organizational perspectives, whereas Korean studies identified eight topics emphasizing individual learning experiences and women’s career growth. Third, AI-related career development research was more active overseas, employing complex methodologies across diverse industries, while Korean research mainly focused on individual perceptions and competency development within limited industries. Based on these results, this study suggests multi-layered and integrative research directions for career development in the AI era.
