This thesis is an attempt to discuss the adverb 正in modern Chinese Putongha(普通話) This term usually is divided into two grammatical words ：modal adverb 正1 temporal adverb 正2 In the thesis, I will present arguments against this view That is： 正in 正VP is a modal adverb；the temporal feature in 正VP originate from VP, which is have no immediate relation with 正.
