만경강 유역 원삼국시대 문화 연속성과 지역 정치체 : 최근 발굴 자료를 중심으로

Cultural Continuity and Regional Polity in the Mangyeong River Basin during the Proto-Three Kingdoms Period : Based on Recent Settlement Excavation Data

만경강 유역은 원삼국시대 한반도 서남부 지역의 사회문화적 변동을 이해하는데 핵심적인 지역이다. 본 연구는 최근 10여 년간 축적된 대규모 발굴 자료를 바탕으로 다음 두 가지 가설을 실증적으로 검증하였다. ① 기원 전후~기원후 2세기 ‘문화적 공백기’는 실재하지 않았다, ② 만경강 상류에는 독자적 지역 정치체가 존재했다. 그 결과 첫째, 삼각형점토대토기와 경질무문토기의 출토 증가 및 점토부뚜막의 이른 등장을 통해 만경강 유역의 문화적 연속성을 확인하였다. 둘째, 직구장경평저호의 집중적 분포와 대형 심발의 지역적 특수성 분석을 토대로, 만경강 상류에 독자적 문화 정체성을 가진 지역 정치체가 존재했음을 파악하였다. 이러한 결과에 근거하여, 본 연구는 기존의 문화 단절론에서 문화 연속성론으로의 관점 전환을 제시하며, 물질문화의 정량적 분석을 통한 지역 정치체 복원 방법론을 제안한다

The Mangyeong River basin is a key region for understanding the sociocultural dynamics of southwestern Korea during the Proto-Three Kingdoms period. Based on large-scale excavation data accumulated over the past decade, this study empirically tests two hypotheses: ① the so-called “cultural hiatus” from around the turn of the era to the 2nd century CE did not exist, and ② an independent regional polity with distinctive cultural identity existed in the upper Mangyeong River basin. First, through the increasing discoveries of Triangular Clay-Rimmed Pottery and Hard Plain Pottery, as well as the early appearance of clay stoves, this study confirms cultural continuity in the Mangyeong River basin. Second, based on analysis of the concentrated distribution of Jikgu Jang-gyeong Pyeongjeo-ho (straight-rim long-neck flat-bottom jars) and regional distinctiveness of large-sized bowls, this study identifies the existence of a regional polity with independent cultural identity in the upper Mangyeong River area. Based on these findings, this research proposes a paradigm shift from cultural discontinuity theory to cultural continuity theory, and suggests a methodology for reconstructing regional polities through quantitative analysis of material culture distribution.
