특수학교를 졸업한 장애 대학생의 대학생활 경험 및 지원 요구

University Life Experiences and Support Needs of University Students with Disabilities Who Graduated from Special Schools

연구목적 본 연구는 특수학교를 졸업한 장애 대학생들이 대학생활에서 경험하는 실제 어려움과 적응 과정과요구하는 지원 내용을 심층적으로 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구방법 이를 위해 특수학교를 졸업하고 현재 일반대학교에 재학 중인 장애 대학생 3명을 대상으로 반구조화된 개별 면담을 실시하였다. 또한, 이들의 고등학교 재학 당시 담임교사와의 면담을 병행하여, 대학 적응에 영향을 미친 학교 교육 경험과 지원의 실태를 파악하고자 하였다. 수집된 면담 자료는 반복적 비교분석법을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 특수학교를 졸업한 장애 대학생의 대학 진학 결정은 다양한 요인이 복합적으로 작용한다. 둘째, 기본교육과정은 고등교육 진입에 필요한 준비를 구조적으로 제공하기 어렵다는 한계가 있다. 셋째, 대학 입학이후 학생들은 수업 이해, 과제 수행 외에도 친구 관계, 정보 접근 등 다양한 측면에서 반복적인 어려움을 경험하였고, 이에 대한 공식적 지원은 매우 제한적이었다. 넷째, 특수학교의 진학지도는 교사 개인의 역량에 크게 의존하고 있었으며, 학교 차원의 체계적인 지원이나 부서 간 협력은 미흡한 수준이다. 다섯째, 특수학교와 대학 간연계 강화를 포함한 다층적 지원체계 구축이 필요하다. 결론 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 특수학교 졸업생의 고등교육 이행 특수성을 반영한 진로교육 체계 강화와 대학내 지원체계의 개선 필요성을 논의하였다.

Purpose This study aimed to do an in-depth exploration of the actual difficulties, adaptation processes, and support needs experienced by university students with disabilities who graduated from special schools. Methods Semi-structured interviews were conducted with three university students with disabilities who graduated from special schools and their former homeroom teachers. The data were analyzed using the constant comparative method. Results First, university entry decisions of special school graduates with disabilities were shaped by multiple factors. Second, the basic curriculum showed structural limits in preparing for higher education. Third, after admission, students faced persistent challenges in academics, peer relations, and information access, with limited formal support. Fourth, university guidance in special schools relied heavily on individual teachers, lacking systematic support. Fifth, a multi-layered support system linking special schools and universities is needed. Conclusion Based on these findings, the study discussed the need to strengthen career education systems that reflect the specific characteristics of special school graduates’ transition to higher education, and to improve support systems within universities.
