한·중 ‘귀/耳’ 관련 관용어 의미 대조연구

A Contrast Study on Expressions and Meanings of Ear-related Idioms in Korean and Chinese

본고는 한국어 ‘귀’ 와 중국어 ‘耳’ 관련 관용어를 분석의 대상으로 하여, 두 언어에 나타난 관용어의 의미와 표현 양상을 대조하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 오관의 하나인 귀는 얼굴의 양 측면에 위치하고 있으며 청각을 담당하는 기관으로서 수행하는 역할은 매우 중요하다. 우리가 듣는 소리 중 가장 중요한 것은 사람의 말소리일 것이며, 다른 사람의 언어를 귀로 들음으로써 정보를 수집할 수 있고, 의사소통을 이어갈 수 있기 때문이다. 다른 두 언어에서 같은 주제의 관용어가 어떠한 유형으로 나타나고 또 사용되는 의미에는 어떤 유사점과 차이점이 있는지 살펴보기 위하여, 한국어와 중국어의 ‘귀/耳’ 관련 관용어 자료를 수집하고 분류한다. 먼저 한국어와 중국어에서 유사한 의미를 나타내는 ‘귀/耳’관련 관용어를 추출한다. 유사한 의미로 나타나는 관용어를 주제별로 분류하여 나타내는 의미의 유사점을 분석하는 동시에 그 안에서 다시 나타나는 차이점도 살핀다. 그리고 한국어 ‘귀’에서만 나타나는 관용어를 나타난 주제별로 분류해 분석하고, 이어서 중국어 ‘耳’관련 관용어의 유형도 구분하여 분석한다. 이렇게 한국어와 중국어 ‘귀/耳’ 관련 관용어를 세 가지 부류로 나누어 대조하여, 각 언어에 고유하게 나타나는 표현의 양상과 의미를 살펴보아 한국어와 중국어 ‘귀/耳’ 관련 관용어의 공통점 및 상이점을 대조한다.

The purpose of this paper is to contrast the meaning and expression patterns of ear-themed idioms in Korean and Chinese. Located on both sides of the face, the ears play a role as an organ in charge of hearing, they are very important sensory organs. Of all the things we can hear, the most important sounds are the ones from other people, because we can collect information from them, and which can make us communicate with each other. To examine the types of idioms and analyze the similarities and differences of the meanings in the two languages, we collect ‘귀’-related idioms in Korean and ‘耳’-related idioms in Chinese from their dictionaries. First, we extract idioms that have similar meanings in Korean and Chinese and categorize them by subject. We then analyze the similarities in the meanings of idioms that appear in the same subject, and examine the differences that appear in the similar expressions and meanings at the same time. Then, classify the idioms that appear only in the Korean “귀”-related idioms and examine their meanings and uses, also classify the Chinese idioms that appear only with “耳” and examine them. By classifying and contrasting “귀/耳”-related Korean and Chinese idioms into three categories, we can derive the commonalities and differences between '귀/耳'-related Korean and Chinese idioms. We can also derive the meanings of expressions unique to each language.
