레바논 디아스포라의 형성과 본국과의 관계 연구

A Study on the Formation of the Lebanese Diaspora and Its Relationship with the Homeland

19세기 말부터 1세기가 넘게 이어진 레바논 디아스포라는 가까운 아랍 국가부터 먼 아프리카와 남아메리카 대륙에 이르기까지 레바논만의 독특한 이주 역사를 만들었다. 본 연구는 19세기 레바논 디아스포라의 시작 배경을 살펴보고 초기 레바논 이주 역사의 특징을 고찰하였다. 그리고 19세기 중반의 경제 위기에서 비롯된 레바논 디아스포라가 150여 년이 지난 오늘날에도 같은 이유로 여전히 많은 레바논인들이 본국을 떠나거나 떠나기를 바라는 상황에 관해 살펴보았으며, 레바논 디아스포라와 레바논 본국과의 정치적, 경제적, 사회적 관계에 관해 고찰하였다.

Spanning over a century since the late 19th century, the Lebanese diaspora has forged a unique history of migration, with communities extending from neighboring Arab nations to the distant continents of Africa and South America. This study examines the historical background that initiated the Lebanese diaspora and analyzes the distinctive characteristics of its early migratory waves. Furthermore, this research investigates the contemporary situation where, more than 150 years later, the same economic drivers that caused the initial exodus in the mid-19th century are compelling many Lebanese to leave or wish to leave their homeland today. The study also explores the complex political, economic, and social relationships between the Lebanese diaspora and their country of origin.
