중국어 관계절 내 전치사구 삭제 현상의 의미지도 연구

A Semantic Map Study of Prepositional Phrase Deletion in Chinese Relative Clauses

중국어에서 관계절 내 전치사 좌초 회피 현상을 위해 전치사구 삭제와 전치사구 보류라는 두 가지 전략을 사용한다. 본 연구에서는 관계절 내 전치사구 삭제가 가능한 의미유형들은 서로 밀접한 관련성이 있으며 이러한 밀접한 관련성은 연속적인 배열을 띤 형태로 존재할 것이라는 전제 하에 표준어와 방언에서의 관계절 내 전치사구 삭제에 관련된 의미유형들의 개념공간과 의미지도를 구축하였다. 본고는 관계절 내 전치사구 삭제 전략이 가능한 표준중국어 및 중국어 방언에서의 의미유형을 세분화하여 이들을 관련성을 지니고 있는 의미유형으로 조명하였다. 아울러 보편적인 개념공간 상에 그려진 개별적인 의미지도를 통해 관계절 내 전치사구 삭제에 대한 함의적 보편성을 찾아낼 수 있었다. 의미유형의 연속성을 확신할 수 있는 의미유형 관계는 기타 의미지도 연구에서도 부분적으로 일치하는 모습을 보였다. 또한 도출된 연속적인 의미 배열 중 일부는 중국어 방언에서 하나의 표지로 나타내는 현상을 볼 수 있었다. 관계절 내 전치사구 삭제가 가능한 의미유형의 의미 배열은 무질서한 배열이 아니라 일정한 경향성을 갖고 있었는데 이러한 규칙성은 바로 표준중국어를 비롯한 중국어 방언의 보편성을 암시하고 있다.

There are wo strategies which are used to avoid prepositional-stranding in relative clauses in Chinese: prepositional phrase deletion and prepositional phrase retention. Based on the premise that the semantic functions that can delete prepositional phrases in relative clauses are closely related to each other, and that these closely related semantic functions illustrate continuous arrangements, this study proposed a conceptual space and semantic map of the semantic functions involved in the deletion of prepositional phrases in relative clauses in Mandarin and Chinese dialects. The study categorized the semantic types in Mandarin and Chinese dialects that can be used to delete prepositional phrases in relative clauses and regarded them as relevant semantic functional types. In addition, individual semantic maps drawn on a universal conceptual space were used to find out seven implicational universalities of deleting prepositional phrases in relative clauses. The semantic functional relationships, which represent the continuity of semantic types, are partially consistent with other semantic map studies. We also observed that some arrangements of the semantic meanings in this study are used by a single grammatical mark in Chinese dialects. The semantic arrangement of prepositional phrase deletion in relative clauses shows that it is not arbitrary, and it suggests the universality of Chinese dialects, including Mandarin.
