인민망 한국어판의 사자성어 번역전략 연구

Study on the Four-Character Idiom Translation Strategies in the Korean Version of People's Daily Online

본 연구는 인민망의 중국어판 및 한국어판 뉴스 텍스트를 수집하여 중국어 텍스트에서 나타난 성어를 연구대상으로 삼고, 번역문에서 쓰인 번역전략을 분류함으로써 서로 다른 전략이 번역 결과에 미치는 영향과 번역문에서 발생한 문제점들을 논의하였다. 음차역, 음차역+주석, 대체는 성어의 구조적 완전성, 의미 및 문화적 전달을 보장하는 세 가지 번역 방법이다. 완전한 유지와 부분 생략은 형태를 완전히 유지할 수는 없지만 성어의 핵심 의미를 효과적으로 전달할 수 있었다. 삭제는 여러 번역 전략 중 원문의 완전성에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 번역 방식으로 번역문에서 원문의 성어 정보를 삭제함으로써 번역 내용의 정확성을 일정 부분 방해하였다. 동시에 일부 번역문에서는 표현이 정확하지 않은 문제도 있다.인민망 한국어판은 중국 정부가 운영하는 공식 매체로서 대외 홍보 역할이 수행되고 있는 만큼, 해외로 송출하는 번역문의 정확성 역시 하루 빨리 향상되기를 기대한다.

This study collected news texts from the Chinese and Korean versions of the People's Daily, focusing on the idioms appearing in the Chinese texts. It categorized and discussed the translation strategies used in the Korean translations, examining the impact of different strategies on translation outcomes and identifying issues in the translated texts. The study found that the strategies of transliteration, transliteration with added annotations, and substitution could preserve the four-character structure of the idioms in the translations. Although the strategies of complete preservation and partial omission did not maintain the form intact, they effectively conveyed the core meanings of the idioms. The deletion strategy had the most significant impact on the integrity of the original text, as removing idioms from the translations could compromise the accuracy of the content. Additionally, some translations exhibited inaccuracies in expression. As a state-run media outlet with a critical role in foreign propaganda, it is imperative that the People's Daily improves the accuracy of its translations sent abroad to enhance its international impact.
