《翻译老乞大》中“却”的语义与用法分析

The Analysis on Definitions and Application of Chinese Word “却” in Ponyok Nogeoldae (翻译老乞大)

본고는 『번역노걸대』에 나타난 ‘却(각)’의 용법을 고정된 어휘와의 결합 양상을 중심으로 분류하고 고찰하였다. 분석 결과, ‘却’은 특히 의문대명사, ‘是’, ‘又’ 등과 결합하며 일정한 규칙성을 보이는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 용법은 크게 세 가지로 나뉜다: ① 역접, ② 어기, ③ 순접을 나타내는 용법이다. 본 연구의 결과는 현대 중국어의 ‘却’ 또는 ‘很’의 기원을 밝히는 데 중요한 단서를 제공하였으며, 나아가 한국어 ‘또’의 기원을 연구하는 데에도 기여하였다.

This paper makes an in-depth study of the meaning and usage of “却” in Ponyok Nogeoldae (번역노걸대), focusing on its patterns of combination with fixed expressions. The analysis revealed that “却” frequently combines with interrogative pronouns, “是,” “又,” and other elements, exhibiting a certain regularity. The usage of “却” can be broadly divided into three types: ① transitional, ② modal, and ③ sequential. The findings of this study provide important clues to reveal the origins of “却” or “很” in modern Chinese and also provide a useful reference for the origins of the Korean word “또” (meaning “again”).
