Purpose: This study aimed to examine critical thinking disposition, problem-solving process, and clinical performance ability in nursing students, and to identify key predictors of clinical performance. Methods: A descriptive survey was conducted with 199 fourth-year nursing students in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do who had participated in learner-centered XR content and simulation-based practice. Data were collected using validated self-report questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS 25.0 using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Critical thinking disposition was positively correlated with both problem-solving process(r=.52, p <.001) and clinical performance ability(r=.51, p <.001). A strong correlation was observed between problem-solving process and clinical performance ability(r=.99, p< .001). Multiple regression analysis revealed that the problem-solving process significantly predicted clinical performance ability(β =.67, p =.030). The model explained 27.1% of the variance in clinical performance ability(F=36.76, p <.001). Conclusions: Problem-solving-based education that reflects real clinical settings is essential for improving clinical performance ability in nursing students. Repetitive practice and constructive feedback can enhance both the problem-solving process and clinical performance abilities. Although critical thinking disposition did not have a direct effect, it may serve as a mediating factor and should also be supported in educational strategies.
