구문다의성 및 구문의 확장에 관한 소고

A study about construction polysemy and construction expansion

본고는 개별 구문에 관한 기존의 연구성과를 바탕으로 구문의 다의성과 구문 확장에 관해 살펴보았다. 구문은 구문의미를 가지는데, 중심의미에서 비중심적 의미로 확대될 수 있다. 이러한 구문의 다의성은 어휘와 마찬가지로 핵의미 구조와 의미연쇄 구조를 통해 설명할 수 있다. 구문은 또한 다른 구문의 영향을 받아 확장될 수 있다. 구문확장은 4가지 유형으로 구분할 수 있다. 첫 번째 유형은 두 구문이 형식은 같으나 구문논항이 다른 경우이다. 두 번째 유형은 두 구문이 형식은 다르지만 구문논항은 같은 경우이다. 세 번째 유형은 두 구문의 형식이 상위-하위 관계에 있으면서 구문논항은 다른 경우이다. 마지막 유형은 두 구문이 형식과 구문논항이 다르지만 의미적으로 은유관계에 있는 경우이다. 어떤 구문의 다의성은 핵의미 구조와 의미연쇄 구조로 설명할 수 없다. 이러한 구문은 구문 자체의 확장력과 외부적 힘이 양방향으로 작용한 것이다. 구문은 확장되는 과정에 있어서 복수의 구문으로부터 복합적 영향을 받아 확장될 수도 있다. 또 어떤 구문들은 구문 다의성의 성격을 가지면서 동시에 구문 확장의 성격을 가지기도 한다. 이렇게 볼 때, 구문 다의성과 구문 확장은 구문들끼리 서로 영향을 주고받으면서 계속 발전해 나가는 복잡한 양상을 보인다.

This paper discussed the construction polysemy and the construction extension based on previous study about individual constructions. The construction has construction meaning , which can be extended from central sense to extended sense. We can explain polysemy of the construction through core meaning and meaning chains, like a vocabulary. The construction can also be extended under the influence of other constructions. The construction expansion can be divided into four types. First type is that two constructions have same form but their arguments are different. Second type is that two constructions have different form but their arguments are same. Third type is that two constructions have different argument but one construction is subpart of the other construction. Forth type is that two constructions have different form and argument but they are metaphorically involved. Polysemy of some constructions can not be explained by core meaning and meaning chains, these constructions are influenced by extension of the construction itself and external forces. The construction may be extended with a complex influence from multiple constructions in the process of expansion. And some constructions have polysemy and construction expansion. In this regard, construction polysemy and construction expansion shows complex aspect in which the constructions continue to develop as they interact with each other.
