《五更鐘》中的动词重叠考察

The Analysis of Verb Reduplication in “Five Calls”

≪五更鐘≫은 청나라 말기의 章回體 백화문 소설로 구어체나 속어체 색채를 뚜렷하게 띠는데 이는 구어화된 문체를 선호하는 중첩형에 좋은 사용환경을 마련해주었다. 이에 본문은 ≪五更鐘≫ 중의 동사중첩을 대상으로 선정해 완전 묘사 방법에 의해 작품 중 동사중첩의 구조유형、통사적 특징 그리고 어법의미 등에 대하여 분석했다. ≪五更鐘≫에서 검색된 동사중첩은 AA, AAB, ABAB, AABB 등 몇 가지를 포함하며 통사적으로 서술어로 많이 쓰이고、부사어、관형어 또는 보어로 쓰인 것도 있다. 동사중첩의 어법의미에 대하여 본고는 “量의 弱化”와 “量의 强化” 두 가지로 나눠서 분석했다. “量의 弱化”(73.19%)는 동사중첩의 주된 어법의미이며 “時量의 弱化”(0.72%)、“動量의 弱化”(33.33%)、“動量과 時量의 弱化”(39.13%) 등 세 가지를 포함한다. 동사중첩은 “量의 强化”도 나타내는데, ≪五更鐘≫ 중 “量의 强化”(26.81%)는 주로 동작이 오래 지속되거나 반복적으로 진행하는 것을 뜻하며 포함된 중첩형태는 AABB식(18.12%)、AA식(7.24%)、ABAB식(1.45%) 등이 있다.

“Five Calls” is a christian novel reflecting the vernacular Chinese usage of the late Qing Dynasty. Taking verb reduplication as the research object, this paper makes exhaustive statistics on it in this novel, and analyzes the characteristics of verb reduplication from structural form, syntax and grammar meaning. In terms of the structural forms, we classify verb reduplication into AA, AAB, ABAB and AABB. Syntactically, verb reduplication is found to be mainly used as predicate, but also as adverbial, attributive and complement. As for grammar meaning, we divide it into two categories, one is “the weakening of quantity” and the other is “the strengthening of quantity”. Verb reduplication mainly represents “the weakening of quantity”. In “Five Calls”, however, 26.81% of verb reduplication represents “the strengthening of quantity”, and the structural forms include AABB (18.12%), AA (7.24%), and ABAB (1.45%).
