Cognitive Interpretation on Nondirectnegation of State AdjectivesLu Shuxiang (1965) suggested that state adjectives can’t directly negated by “bu” in the realistic sentences. Until now there are four kinds of interpretations, viz. nonreversequality, incompatibility of each other, nonnegation of static state and conflict of tow quantities. This article suggested that there are many problems and language facts that these interpretations cannot solve and explain. At the same time, the present investigation have established that both affirmative cognitive structure of subjective description and whole uniformity of objective state are the reasons of nondirectnegation of state adjectives on the basis of description as basic function of state adjective. Furthermore description possess the characters of subjective affirmation, objective uniformity and repulsion of negation
