Vision words have regularly developed mental meaning in Chinese, and this kind of lexical meaning change emerges through metaphorical mappings based on certain image schemas. These vision words appears clustering in the vision meaning, mental meaning and image schemas. And the features in the their vision meaning in the specific physical domain are also mapped into the extended meaning in the abstract mental domain, forming a regular corresponding semantic relationship between them. This manifests the link between the embodied and the abstract domain, and also manifests a regular semantic change pattern between different semantic domains. From cognitive perspective, this kind of word meaning mapping is the result of “Mind-as-Body metaphor”, reflecting the close association between body and mind. Such kind of lexical meaning change has cross-language universality.
