중국 출판 현대중국어 교재의 시기별 현황과 특징 연구

A Diachronic Study on the States and Characteristics of Modern Chinese Language Textbooks Published in Different Time Periods in China

본고는 중국에서 출판된 외국어로서의 중국어 교재를 대상으로 시기구분을 하고 각 시기별 현황과 특징에 대한 분석을 시도한 논문이다. 이를 위해 본고는 먼저 중국에서 외국어로서의 중국어 교육의 시작 시점을 1950년으로 보는 것을 감안하여 중국 국가도서관 웹사이트에서 1950년부터 2016년까지 출판된 6144권의 중국어 교재 목록을 수집하였다. 6144권의 연도별 출판 현황을 파악해보고, 중국어 교육사의 시기 구분 및 중국의 정치·경제적 상황, 외국어로서의 중국어 교육 및 교재 출판에 관한 정부 입장 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 네 가지 시기로 구분하였으며 각 시기별로 어떤 특성이 있는지를 살펴보았다. 1기는 1950년에서 1980년까지의 시기로, 외국어로서의 중국어 교육이 시작되면서 중국어 교재도 형성되기 시작한 시기이다. 이 시기 출판된 교재는 대부분 중국어를 종합적으로 다루는 종합교재였다. 2기는 1981년에서 2001년까지이다. 2기에는 보충교재나 목적서, 수험서가 처음으로 출판되기 시작하는 등 교재 출판이 발전해나가는 시기이다. 3기는 2002년에서 2006년까지의 시기로 교재의 양적 성장이 이루어진 시기이다. 3기의 특징으로는 교재 및 보충교재 수의 급증, 그리고 목적서와 수험서 출판이 증가해 나갔다는 것을 들 수 있다. 마지막으로 4기는 2007년부터 현재까지의 시기로 교재의 질적인 성장이 이루어진 시기이다. 이 시기 특성으로는 교재의 학습대상이 본격적으로 확대되기 시작하고, 읽기자료가 급증하고, 학습수요에 맞게 다양한 목적서와 수험서가 출판되었다는 점 등을 들 수 있다. 이상의 분석을 통해 우리는 교재 출판에 있어 각각의 시기마다 뚜렷한 특성을 가지고 있으며, 시기별 특성을 파악함으로써 중국어 교재가 어떻게 발전해왔는지를 살펴볼 수 있었다. 이러한 교재의 시기 구분 및 시기별 특성 파악을 통해 기존의 중국어 교육사 연구를 돌이켜 볼 수 있을 것이고, 나아가 중국어 교육사 연구에도 기여를 할 수 있으리라 생각한다.

This article divides the time when textbooks for Chinese as a foreign language (CFL) have been published in China and tries to identify the characteristics of each time period. To this end, the study collected the list of 6,144 CFL books published from 1950 to 2016 from the website of the National Library of China, considering the CFL education in China started in 1950. It then examined the distribution of publications and defined four periods based on such factors as educational periods of CFL in China, socio-political situations, and the Chinese government's position toward CFL education and textbook publication. The first period spanning from 1950 to 1980 saw the beginning of CFL education and publication. Most publications in this period were comprehensive or general-purpose textbooks. The second period was from 1981 to 2001, when new developments in CFL publication were made, including publishing of supplementary materials, Chinese for specific purposes (CSP) and test-preparation materials. The third period from 2002 to 2006 witnessed a growth in the quantity of CFL publications, which was featured by a rapid increase in the main as well as supplementary textbooks, CSP and test-prep books. The fourth and last period starting 2007 to present is characterized by a qualitative growth. The target learners of textbooks have been significantly diversified and reading materials have notably increased. Also, more diverse types of CSP and exam-preparation textbooks have been published according to different learning needs. The above analysis informs us of how the CFL textbook publication in China has evolved with distinct characteristics in each period. It also enables us to look back at the history of CFL education from a perspective and contribute further to the research of it.
