Research on the Translation of Time Auxiliary in Korean and Preposition in Chinese

Both auxiliary in Korean and preposition in Chinese are in the domain of functional word with great similarities in use. This paper focuses on the translation between “time” auxiliary in Korean and preposition in Chinese and makes analysis on their corresponding relation. Firstly, the paper further divides “Time” into three aspects: “time for action, behavior and property”, “time-domain” and “time quantum” and explores the translation between each aspect of auxiliary in Korean and preposition in Chinese. According to the study results, both auxiliary in Korean and preposition in Chinese have own rules and regulations in their respective semantic expressions. However, compared with auxiliary in Korean, the use of preposition in Chinese is freer and more flexible. In the internal system of auxiliary in Korean and preposition in Chinese, every word has the trait of polysemy and there also are similarities between words. As a result, the corresponding relation between them is quite complex. The paper also makes the comparison between “time” auxiliary in Korean and preposition in Chinese from the point of grammatical structure, syntactic function and pragmatic dimension.
