본고는 중국어 어휘에 급증하고 있는 축약어에 대한 고찰이다. 먼저 축약어의 개념을 영어 축약어의 개념과 대비시켜 중국어 축약어의 논의 범위를 명확하게 하였다. 그리고 이를 기반으로 중국어 축약어의 유형을 세 가지로 분류하였는데 한자 축약어, 병음 축약어, 숫자 축약어가 그것이다. 축약어는 언어의 경제성이나 생산성, 유희 면에서 분명히 긍정적인 작용을 하고 있지만 이것들은 반드시 축약어가 정보의 전달을 분명히 해줄 수 있다는 것을 전제 조건으로 한다.
This study is about Chinese abbreviations. It clarifies the scope of the discussion by comparing English concepts and Chinese concepts for abbreviations. In addition, the discussion is supported by various Chinese abbreviations. Based on the concepts, Chinese abbreviations are classified into three types: Chinese character's abbreviation, Pinyin's abbreviation, and numeral abbreviation. Each type of abbreviations is divided into subcategories. Furthermore, the reasons of the rapid increase and the developing tendency of the Chinese abbreviations are also discussed.
