A review of studies on Chinese phonetics acquisition for Korean students

This essay classified existing studies on Korean student’s Chinese pronunciation errors, sorted the errors on initials, finals and tones and studies on them.Based on the review, we further discuss the explanation for error analysis on initials, especially the transfer relationship between Korean pronunciations of Chinese characters and Chinese phonetic errors.As for the finals, we further talked about the issue of the misleading effect of Pinyin in teaching practice and the possibilities of solving this problem. We also reviewed studies on Korean student’s pronunciations errors on single syllabus and two-syllabus words. Because Korean has no tones or corresponding conception, we compared tones on single Chinese syllabus with intonations on single Korean syllabus.As a conclusion, this essay analyzes the theories and methods of existing related studies and their shortages. We expect this essay can offer references for future in depth studies.
