This paper analyzes the negation of experiential sentence marked by ‘GUO’in Mandarin Chinese. ‘GUO’ as a perfective aspect marker select the negator ‘MEI’ to express the absence of experience, in this case, ‘GUO’ must be in the scope of negation to convey the absence of experience for the anterior time, whereas ‘MEI-V’ simply denotes the negation of specific event. In this paper,we’re showing that negative sentences of experiential ‘GUO’ also satisfy the semantic conditions of experiential sentence, which are ‘repeatability’ and ‘indefiniteness-nonspecificity’, in the point of time span and quantification.
