본 종설은 국내외에서 인정되어 온 동료지원인의 치료적 효과성과 그 역할의 확대 추세를 검토하고, 향후 발전 방향을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 국외에서는 동료지원인의 중요성이 일찍부터 강조되어 왔으며, 국내에서도 관련 제도 및 법적 근거를 마련하며 동료지원인의 활용이 점차 확대되고 있다. 동료지원인이 효과적으로 기능하기 위해서는 역할 규정뿐 아니라 자격 요건, 교육⋅훈련체계, 지속적인 질 관리에 대한 논의가 필수적이다. 이에 본 종설에서는 동료지원인의 현황을 분석하고, 관련 쟁점을 중심으로 향후 과제를 제시하였다.
This review aims to examine the therapeutic effectiveness of peer supporters, which has been recognized in both domestic and international research, and to explore future directions for their development. While the significance of peer support has long been emphasized in other countries, its role is also expanding in Korea through the establishment of institutional and legal foundations. For peer supporters to function effectively, it is essential to address not only their roles but also qualification requirements, training systems, and ongoing quality management. Accordingly, this review analyzes the current status of peer supporters and discusses future tasks based on key issues identified in the field.
