한국과 중국의 연안 도시 근대 직업교육 비교 연구(1937-1949) - 인천과 천진을 중심으로

A Comparative Study of Modern Vocational Education in Coastal Cities of Korea and China (1937-1949) - Focusing on Incheon and Tianjin

본 연구는 한국과 중국의 연안 선구 도시인 인천과 천진의 근대 직업교육에 내재된 보편성과 지역적 특수성을 통합적으로 이해하고, 비교사적 관점에서 교육사 연구의 지평을 확장하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 1937년부터 1949년까지 인천과 천진의 직업교육 발전 양상을 비교·분석하여, 제국주의·전시 체제·해방과 체제 전환 등 급격한 역사적 변동이 직업교육에 미친 영향을 고찰하였다. 연구 방법으로는 문헌연구를 채택하였으며, 1차 및 2차 사료와 선행연구를 토대로 교육 도입의 시대적 배경과 학교 설립 현황을 분석하였다. 나아가 비교사적 접근을 통해 두 도시의 공통점과 차이점을 규명함으로써 연구 결과의 타당성을 확보하였다. 분석 결과, 인천과 천진은 외래 교육모델의 수용과 전시 동원체제 편입이라는 공통된 특징을 공유하였으나, 통치 주체의 변화, 산업 구조, 해방 이후의 역사 전개에 따라 상이한 직업교육 발전 양상을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 동아시아 직업교육의 역사적 특성을 드러내는 동시에, 현대 직업교육에서 유연성, 산업 연계성, 문화적 맥락 반영의 중요성을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study aims to comprehensively understand the universality and regional particularity embedded in modern vocational education in the pioneering coastal cities of Incheon (Korea) and Tianjin (China), and to expand the horizon of educational history research from a comparative-historical perspective. To this end, the study compares and analyzes the development patterns of vocational education in the two cities from 1937 to 1949, examining how imperialism, wartime mobilization, liberation, and regime transitions affected vocational education. The research adopts a documentary analysis method, utilizing primary and secondary sources as well as previous studies to investigate the historical background of educational introduction and the status of school establishment. Furthermore, by employing a comparative-historical approach, the study identifies similarities and differences between the two cities to ensure the validity of its findings. The analysis reveals that both Incheon and Tianjin shared common characteristics such as the adoption of foreign educational models and incorporation into wartime mobilization systems. However, their trajectories diverged depending on changes in governing powers, industrial structures, and post-liberation historical developments. These findings illuminate the historical characteristics of East Asian vocational education and highlight the importance of flexibility, industrial connectivity, and cultural contextualization in contemporary vocational education.
