치위생과 학생의 전공선택동기와 치과위생사의 이미지가 치위생전문직관에 미치는 영향

Effects of Major Selection Motivation and the Image of Dental Hygienists on Dental Hygiene Students’ Professional Identity

이 연구의 목적은 치위생과 학생의 전공선택동기와 치과위생사에 대한 이미지가 치위생전문직관에 미치는 영향을 분석하는데 있다. 본 연구는 치위생과에 재학 중인 학생을 대상으로 온라인으로 설문조사를 시행하였다. 최종 표본은 149명을 대상으로 분석하였으며, 통계분석으로는 빈도분석, t-test와 ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, 다중회귀분석을 사용하였다. 다변량 분석결과, 일반적 특성 중 전공만족도가 높을수록 전공선택동기, 치과위생사 이미지 및 치위생전문직관이 모두 높게 나타나 통계적으로 유의한 결과를 보였다(p＜.001). 모든 항목은 5점 만점으로 조사하였으며, 그 중 전공선택동기는 3.37, 치과위생사 이미지는 3.57, 치위생전문직관은 3.46으로 분석되었다. 전공선택동기, 치과위생사 이미지 및 치위생전문직관은 모두 통계적으로 유의한 양의 상관관계를 보였으며, 그 중 치과위생사 이미지와 치위생전문직관은(r=.669, p<.001) 가장 높은 양의 상관성을 보였다. 치과위생사의 이미지와 전공선택동기는 치위생전문직관에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있었다. 이러한 결과는 치위생과 학생들이 전공과 직업에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 가질수록 전문직으로서의 정체성과 사명감을 더 많이 가질 수 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구는 치위생과 학생의 전공선택동기와 치과위생사 이미지가 전문직관에 미치는 영향을 분석함으로써, 치위생 교육과 진로지도에 활용 가능한 기초자료를 제공하고, 전문직 정체성 함양 및 사회적 이미지 개선을 위한 방안 마련에 기여할 수 있음을 제언한다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of dental hygiene students’ motivations for major selection and their perceptions of dental hygienists on their sense of dental hygiene professional identity. An online survey was conducted among students majoring in dental hygiene, and a total of 149 valid responses were analyzed. Statistical analyses included t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, and multiple regression analysis. Multivariate analysis results indicated that satisfaction with one’s major was significantly associated with higher levels of motivation for major selection, the image of dental hygienists, and professional identity (**p <.001). On a 5-point scale, the mean scores for motivation for major selection, image of dental hygienists, and dental hygiene professional identity were 3.37, 3.57, and 3.46, respectively. Significant positive correlations were found among these variables, with the strongest relationship observed between the image of dental hygienists and dental hygiene professional identity (r = .669, p <.001). In addition, both the image of dental hygienists and motivation for major selection had significant effects on dental hygiene professional identity. These findings suggest that dental hygiene students who hold more positive perceptions of their major and profession tend to develop a stronger sense of professional identity and professional mission. The results provide foundational data that may be utilized in dental hygiene education and career guidance to strengthen professional identity and improve the public image of dental hygienists.
