The New Perspective on Narrative Interpretation Theory : Focusing on Foreshadowing

본고는 복선의 해소 양상을 직선적, 반전적, 점진적, 열린 유형으로 나누고, 이를 통해 서사작품 속 인물, 구조, 주제와 상징 등을 통합적으로 해석하는 근간을 고찰하였다. 네 가지 해소 유형은 서사 작품을 해석하는 중요 관점이 되는 것이다. 네 가지는 독립적으로도 분석되지만 복합적으로 분석되기도 한다. 복선 중심의 해석은 기존 이론의 단일성과 경직성을 넘어서며, 서사의 복합성과 총체적 의미망을 분석할 수 있는 유연한 해석 틀로 기능할 수 있음을 보여준다.

This study classifies the resolution patterns of foreshadowing into four types —linear, reversal, gradual, and open—and demonstrates that foreshadowing functions as a core narrative device that integrates character psychology, narrative structure, thematic symbolism, and emotional effect. Each type produces distinct narrative effects and often appears in combination within actual works. This foreshadowing-centered approach overcomes the limitations of existing rigid and monolithic theories, suggesting a flexible interpretive framework capable of analyzing the complexity and multilayered meaning of narrative texts.
