국악 찬양의 교육적 적용과 기대효과 : 국악찬송가 및 국악적인 교회음악을 중심으로

Educational Application and Expected Effect of Gugak Chanyang : focusing on Korean Hymns and Korean Church Music

본고는 국악찬송가 및 국악적인 교회음악을 중심으로 국악 찬양의 교육적 적용과 기대 효과를 조명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 국악 찬양의 역사와 형태의 고찰을 바탕으로 국악 찬양의 교육적 적용 방식을 제안하고 기대 효과를 모색하였다. 한국적 찬송가의 제작과 보급은 기독교 수용 초기부터 있었지만, 1980년대에 들어 본격적으로 국악 찬양 문화가 발전하기 시작했다. 이 과정에서 국악 찬양은 기독교 선교와 한국전통음악의 계승자 또는 전파자라는 이중의 역할을 수행하며교회음악의 중요한 부분이 되었다. 관련하여 본고는 교회음악 관련자의 국악 연수, 신학대학교 국악찬양학과 신설, 국악 찬양 전문지도사의 양성 등을 제안하였다. 국악 찬양은 기독교인에게 신앙적 사명감과 함께 한국적인 정체성에 대한 인식을 높여주고 사회문화적 책임의식을 키우는 교육적 기대효과를 지닌다. 본 연구를 통해 한국 교회문화에서 국악 찬양이 굳건히 뿌리내리고, 사회적 공공성과 한국적인 정체성의 심화 및 문화적 다양성 실현에 이바지할 수 있기를 바란다.

This paper aims to illuminate the educational application and expected effects of Gugak Chanyang, focusing on Korean hymns and Korean church music. Based on the history and form of Gugak Chanyang, an educational application method of Gugak Chanyang was proposed and the expected effect was sought. The production and distribution of Korean hymns have existed since the early days of Christian acceptance, but in the 1980s, the culture of Gugak Chanyang began to develop in earnest. In this process, Gugak Chanyang played a dual role as a successor or spreader of Christian mission and Korean traditional music, and Gugak Chanyang became an important part of church music. In this regard, this paper proposed training Korean traditional music for church music, opening a curriculum for Gugak Chanyang at theological university, and training professional instructors for Gugak Chanyang. Gugak Chanyang has an educational expected effect of rasing awareness of Korean identity and cultivating a sense of socio-cultural responsibility for Christians along with a sense of religious mission. Through this study, it is hope that Gugak Chanyang will firmly take root in Korean church culture, deepen social publicity and Korean identity, and contribute to the realization of cultural diversity.
