텍스트 마이닝을 활용한 피클볼 관련 해외 연구 동향 분석

Analysis of International Research Trends in Pickleball Using Text Mining

본 연구는 2018년부터 2025년까지 해외 학술지에 게재된 피클볼 관련 논문 109편의 초록을 대상으로 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 활용하여 연구 동향을 체계적으로 분석하였다. 분석 방법으로는 키워드 빈도, TF-IDF, 단어쌍 분석을 수행하고, 의미연결망 분석(연결중심성) 및 CONCOR 군집 분석을 실시하였다. 첫째, 키워드 및 단어쌍 분석 결과 injury, sport, activity, player 등의 키워드가 높은 빈도를 보였고, TF-IDF 분석에서는 epicondylalgia, rehabilitation, prevention 등 부상 및 재활 관련 키워드가 상위를 차지하였다. 단어쌍 분석에서는 injury-sport, foot-ankle 등이 높은 공출현 빈도를 보여, 연구 주제가 부상 발생, 참가자 특성, 안전 문제 등으로 집중되어 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 의미연결망 분석 결과 injury, sport, player, activity가 높은 연결중심성을 보였으며, 이는 해당 키워드들이 피클볼 연구 네트워크의 구조적 중심 역할을 한다는 점을 시사한다. 이와 연계된 CONCOR 군집 분석에서는 '부상·의학·안전', '참여자 특성 및 건강·사회적 효과', '교육·기술·프로그램', '훈련·기법·종목 비교'의 네 가지 주제 군집이 도출되었다. 이는 해외 피클볼 연구가 스포츠 기능을 넘어 교육학, 의학, 사회과학 등 다양한 학문 영역에서 다차원적으로 전개되고 있음을 보여준다. 본 연구는 피클볼 연구의 구조적 지형을 정량적 방식으로 시각화하고 분석함으로써, 국내 연구자들에게 안전성 확보, 교육적 적용, 참여자 다양성 확대 등 실질적인 연구 방향을 제시하는 데 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study systematically analyzed international research trends by employing text mining techniques on 109 English-language abstracts of academic papers related to pickleball, published in international journals from 2018 to 2025. The analysis included keyword frequency, TF-IDF, and word-pair analyses, along with semantic network analysis (degree centrality) and CONCOR cluster analysis. First, keyword and word-pair analyses showed high frequencies for core terms such as injury, sport, activity, and player. The TF-IDF analysis ranked injury and rehabilitation-related keywords such as epicondylalgia, rehabilitation, and prevention highly. Word-pair analysis confirmed that research topics are concentrated on injury occurrence, participant characteristics, and safety issues, with high co-occurrence frequencies for combinations like injury-sport and foot-ankle. Second, the semantic network analysis revealed high degree centrality for injury, sport, player, and activity, indicating their structurally central role within the research network. Linked to this, the CONCOR cluster analysis derived four distinct thematic clusters: 'Injury, Medical, and Safety,' 'Participant Characteristics, Health, and Social Effects,' 'Education, Skills, and Programs,' and 'Training, Technique, and Sport Comparison.' This demonstrates that international pickleball research is developing multidimensionally across various academic domains including education, medicine, and social sciences, beyond its basic function as a sport. This study quantitatively visualizes and analyzes the structural landscape of pickleball research, providing foundational data for domestic researchers to establish practical research directions including enhancing safety, applying findings in educational contexts, and expanding participant diversity.
