고전과 재즈가 융합된 색소폰 작품 연구 : 시마츠 타카시의 <사이버 버드 협주곡>을 중심으로

A Study on the Fusion of Classical and Jazz Styles in Saxophone Works : Focusing on Takashi Yoshimatsu’s <Cyber Bird Concerto>

본 연구는 요시마쓰 다카시의 협주곡 Cyber Bird Concerto(Op.59, 1994)를 대상으로, 고전 협주곡 절차와 재즈 어법의 융합 양상을 규명하고자 하였다. 연구 방법은 형식, 화성·선율, 리듬·아티큘레이션, 오케스트레이션 지시문, 색소폰 주법·음색의 5-파라미터 매트릭스를 설정하고, 동일 구간에서 고전·재즈 표지가 동시에 실현되면 Integration, 병존하면 Coexistence, 표층 차용에 머물면 Surface Markers로 판정하는 운용 정의를 적용하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 작품은 전반적으로 Coexistence 중심의 융합 전략을 취하는 것으로 나타났다. 제1악장 [Q–R] 구간에서는 Swing 리듬과 주제 변형이 공존하였고, 제3악장 [T–V] 카덴차에서는 Jazz Chord 기보를 통해 즉흥성의 제도화가 구현되었다. 둘째, Altissimo, Subtone, Slap Tonguing 등 확장 주법은 레지스터·음색·리듬 기능으로 구체화되었으며, 피아노와 타악은 리듬 코어를 형성하여 Jazz Trio적 중심성을 강화하였다. 셋째, 이러한 분석을 통해 형식–화성–리듬–주법의 상호작용이 장르 융합의 핵심 메커니즘으로 작동함을 확인하였다. 마지막으로, 본 연구는 단순한 작품 기술을 넘어, 증거–판정–도식으로 이어지는 분석 체계를 제시하여 연주 해석의 실질적 지침과 향후 융합 음악 분석의 데이터 기반 접근 방향을 제안하였다.

This study examines Takashi Yoshimatsu’s Cyber Bird Concerto (Op.59, 1994) to explore how classical concerto structure and jazz idioms merge through musical interaction. Using a five-parameter matrix—form, harmony/melody, rhythm/articulation, orchestration, and saxophone technique/timbre—the analysis defines Integration as simultaneous classical and jazz traits, Coexistence as their parallel presence, and Surface Markers as stylistic borrowing. Results show a Coexistence-oriented fusion: in the first movement ([Q–R]), swing rhythm and thematic transformation appear together, while the third-movement cadenza ([T–V]) formalizes improvisation with written jazz chords. Extended techniques such as Altissimo, Subtone, and Slap Tonguing enrich register and tone color, and piano–percussion interaction forms a jazz-trio-like rhythmic core. The interplay of form, harmony, rhythm, and performance technique drives the genre fusion. The study concludes with an evidence–judgment–schematization model that offers performers interpretive guidance and provides a data-based analytical framework for future studies on musical fusion.
