In this paper, we give some characterizations of zero- dimensional spaces via some classes of continuous real-valued func- tions. Thus we show that a topological space X is zero-dimensional if and only if it satisfies the Urysohn lemma (or a partition of unity) without being surjective. We also give some examples related to our results.
