『伊勢物語』の83段と85段の解釈をめぐって - 江戸初·中期の『伊勢物語』の注釈書を中心に

Interpretations of Sections 83 and 85 of The Tales of Ise : Focusing on Commentaries on The Tales of Ise in the Early and Mid-Edo Period

This paper sheds light on the new interpretations and perspectives on The Tales of Ise presented in the commentaries published in the early and mid-Edo period, that is, in the former part of the Edo period, by Kokugaku scholars. In the period of these new commentaries in the research history of The Tales of Ise, there existed differences in commentaries between the new and the old commentaries. The present study examines the main interpretive perspectives to understand The Tales of Ise. The era of the new commentaries departed from the fixed interpretation in the old commentaries, which regarded The Tales of Ise as a biography of Narihira. Instead, the new commentaries argue that each section should be read individually, with particular reference to the author’s “literary technique” and related factors. As a result, the present study analyzes not only the textual interpretations in each commentary book but also the major differences in the perspectives on the interpretations of The Tales of Ise. In sum, through a comparison with the old commentary, Ise Monogatari Ketsugisho, this paper identifies new interpretations in several commentaries in the early and mid-Edo period, that is, the former part of the Edo period, and confirms that s single word could be interpreted in two ways depending on the commentary. By surveying the interpretive approaches of these commentaries, which read The Tales of Ise from multifaceted perspectives, it also captures the way in which they give rise to a richer interpretive world of The Tales of Ise.

本論文は、国学者によって刊行されていた江戸初·中期の注釈書の新たな『伊勢物語』の読みと観点を明らかにしたものである。『伊勢物語』の研究史における新注の時代とは、旧注との、注釈の差異が存在したもので、『伊勢物語』の理解のための解釈における主な観点を考察することができたと思われる。 新注の時代は、旧注の、業平の一代記という全体として理解する固定的な読みを切り拓き、作者の｢筆術｣などと深く結びつけて、各章段として読むべきであると説いている。それによって、それぞれの注釈書の本文解釈のみならず、『伊勢物語』の読み方をめぐる主な観点の差まで、考察することができた。 以上のように、旧注の『伊勢物語闕疑抄』との比較を通して、江戸初·中期の諸注釈書の新たな読みと、また、注釈書によって、一つの言葉が二通に注釈できることが確認できた。こういう多角的な視点から『伊勢物語』を読む諸注釈書の注釈姿勢を通して、より豊かな『伊勢物語』の読みの世界が生み出されており、そういうところを把握することができたと思われる。
