Exploring Discussion Methods for Building a Symbiotic Society

이 글은 ‘함께하는 사회를 위한 토론 방법’을 문헌 연구와 사례 연구의 방법을 혼용하여 탐색한 것이다. 연구 문제로 ‘①현재 대학교에서 이뤄지고 있는 토론의 문제점은 무엇인가? ②바람직한 함께하는 사회(공생 사회)를 구축하기 위한 토론 방법(방안)은 무엇인가?’를 설정하고, 연구자가 지금까지 재직하고 있는 대학교에서 28년 동안 학생들을 지도한 결과로서의 경험적 사례를 보완하는 방법을 선택했다. 연구의 결과를 기반으로 하는 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이 글에서 의미하는 함께하는 사회란 “각 개인이나 집단이 추구하는 가치를 중심으로 서로 도우며 함께 하는 삶의 한 공동체”이다. 다음으로 학교에서 이뤄지고 있는 토론의 문제점으로 형식 면에서 ‘①입론-교차조사-반박의 순서 따르기, ②읽기에 의존하는 주장 펼치기, ③팀별 협업 활동 미흡, ④지나친 승패 집착, ⑤시간 제약의 엄격성’을, 내용 면에서 ‘①논제와 관련된 철학에 대한 탐색 미흡, ②핵심 이유 중심의 논증 미흡, ③누가 옳으냐보다는 무엇이 옳으냐를 중시하는 토론 미흡, ④토론 내용이 실천으로 잘 이어지지 않음’을 제시했다. 다음으로 함께하는 사회 구축을 위한 토론 방법으로 ‘누가 옳으냐?’를 중시하는 ‘논쟁형 토론’을 보완할 수 있는 토론으로 ‘무엇이 옳으냐?’에 초점을 맞춘 ‘토의형 토론(상생 토론)’을 제안했다. 토의형 토론은 ‘①재고하기 능력 신장, ②바람직한 가치 설정’으로 논의를 제한했다. 재고하기 능력의 신장과 관련된 세부 내용으로 ‘①인지적 게으름 극복, ②재고하기와 과신 주기의 활용, ③자신감과 역량의 효율적 활용, ④집단별 업무 갈등과 관계갈등의 특성 활용, ⑤공통점 인정하기, ⑥감정 영역 확대하기를 통한 비폭력 대화’를 제안했다.

This article explores the search for discussion methods for symbiotic society using a mixture of literature studies and case studies. As a research problems, ‘What are the problems of the discussion being conducted at present University? What is the discussion methods to build s symbiotic society?’ was set, and the research choose to alleviate the empirical case as a result of teaching students for 28 years at the university I have been working for. The conclusions based on the results of the study are as follows. First, the society that we share in this article is a community of life that helps each other around the values pursued by each individual or group. Next, as a problem with the discussion being conducted in schools, it was reveled that in terms of forms, ‘① following the order of cross examination refutation ② making arguments that rely on reading ③ lack of collaboration activities by team ④ excessive obsession with winning and losing ⑤ strictness of time constrains’, and in terms of contents ‘① lack of exploration of philosophy related to the topics ② lack of argument centered on key reasons ③ lack of discussion that values what is right rather than who is right ④ the content of the discussion does not lead to practice well.’. Next, as a discussion methods for building a symbiotic society, we proposed a discussion type focusing on what is right as a way to supplement the debate type discussion that values who is right. Discussion type debates limit the discussion to ‘① increasing the ability to reconsider ② setting desirable values’. Regarding the improvement of the ability to reconsider, it was proposed to use ‘① overcoming cognitive laziness ② use of the overconfidence cycle and rethinking ③ efficient use of confidence and competence ④ use of the characteristics of group-specific work conflicts and relationship conflicts ⑤ acknowledge commonalities ⑥ use of nonviolent dialogue by expanding the emotional area’.
