Z세대 대졸 미취업자의 구직여부와 진로의사결정의 관계에서 진로성숙도가 지니는 매개효과: 인과매개분석을 활용하여

The Mediating Role of Career Maturity in the Relationship Between Job-Seeking Status and Career Decision-Making Among Unemployed Generation Z College Graduates: A Causal Mediation Analysis

본 연구는 인과매개분석을 활용하여 Z세대 대졸 미취업자의 구직여부와 진로의사결정의 관계에서 진로성숙도의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 청년패널 2021 1차 조사에 참여한 Z세대 대졸 미취업자 846명을 대상으로 분석을 실시하였다. 분석은 전통적 매개분석, 학업 성적과 학교만족도를 통제변수로 투입한 매개분석, 그리고 인과매개분석의 순서로 진행되었으며, 결과의 안정성을 확인하기 위해 민감도 분석을 추가하였다. 이를 통해 구직여부가 진로의사결정에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 경로와, 진로성숙도를 매개로 한 간접적 영향의 차이를 확인하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째 전통적 매개분석에서는 구직여부가 진로의사결정에 미치는 직접효과와 간접효과가 모두 유의하였다. 둘째, 통제변수를 포함한 매개분석에서는 직접효과만 유의하였다. 셋째, 인과매개분석 결과 또한 직접효과만 유의하였다. 넷째, 민감도 분석에서는 직접효과의 강건성은 안정적인 반면 간접효과의 강건성은 상대적으로 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 Z세대 대졸 미취업자의 구직 경험과 진로성숙도의 관계를 이해하는 데 기여하며, 향후 대졸 미취업자를 대상으로 한 정신 건강 및 진로 상담 실천에 시사점을 제공한다.

This study examined the mediating role of career maturity in the relationship between job-seeking status and career decision-making among unemployed Generation Z college graduates. Using data from 846 participants in the first wave of the 2021 Youth Panel, we conducted traditional mediation analysis, mediation with control variables (academic achievement and school satisfaction), and causal mediation analysis, supplemented by sensitivity testing. Through this multi-step approach, the research aimed to examine whether job-seeking status influences career decision-making directly or indirectly via career maturity. Results showed that in the traditional model, both direct and indirect effects of job-seeking status were significant. However, when control variables were included and in the causal mediation analysis, only the direct effect remained significant. Sensitivity analysis indicated that the direct effect was robust, while the indirect effect was less stable. These findings enhance understanding of how job-seeking experience and career maturity shape career decision-making among unemployed graduates and suggest implications for mental health and career counseling interventions for Generation Z.
