稼隱 成彦根의 『稼隱集』 소재 雜著 연구 - 〈春秋過客傳〉과 <孝狗說>을 중심으로

A Study of Japjeo(雜著) in Gaeun Seong Eon-geun’s 『Gaeunjip(稼隱集)』 : Focusing on <ChunchuGwaekjeon(春秋過客傳)> and <HyoguSeol(孝狗說)>

본고는 지역학을 연구하기 위한 핵심적 자료인 인물과 문집을 중심으로 잘 알려지지 않은 문인을 대상으로 소개, 검토하고자 한 것이다. 특히 필자는 최근 문집 소재 잡저 항목에 관심을 가지고 연구를 진행하고 있는데, 본고 또한 이러한 연장선상에서 기획되었다. 그 일환으로 成彦根의 문집인 『稼隱集』 잡저에 수록된 〈春秋過客傳〉과 〈孝狗說〉에 주목하여 두 작품을 중심으로 작품의 양상과 편저 의식 등에 관해 분석을 진행하고 이를 바탕으로 문집 소재 잡저에 대한 관심을 환기시키고자 하였다. 그 결과 다음과 같은 지점을 포착할 수 있었다. 〈춘추과객전〉의 경우 두 개의 개별 일화가 결합하되, 하나의 일화는 문답식 구성으로 인물을 형상화하고, 다른 일화는 입전 인물의 특징적 형상을 서술하는 방식으로 구성된 점에서 일반적인 인물전과 다른 서술 방식을 활용하고 있었다. 한편 〈효구설〉의 경우 가족 관계망에서 유전된 ‘효구’ 일화를 중심으로 특정 주제를 표출하는 작품으로 형상화했다는 점, 가은의 작품과 유사한 다른 작품과의 관계망을 살펴보면 지역 사회에서 교유 관계에 바탕을 둔 이야기의 상호 유전과 영향 관계가 확인된다는 점 등에서 두 작품의 성향이 여타 문집 소재 작품과는 방향성이 다른 것이 확인되었다. 본고가 문집에 문체 양식으로 분류된 작품이 아닌 잡저에 수록된 작품을 주목하는 이유는 우선 잡저에 수록된 작품을 주목함으로써 잡저라는 이유로 부각되지 못한 작품을 발굴하려는 의도가 있고, 잡저에 수록된 두 작품에서 작가 의식이 일정부분 엿보이고 있기 때문이다. 이는 문집 소재 잡저 항목에 수렴된 다수의 자료들이 있음에도 불구하고 그동안 방치되었던 까닭에 빛을 보지 못한 점을 비판하면서 새로운 연구 대상으로 환기시키려는 의도에서 기획된 것이다.

This paper aims to introduce and examine an under-recognized scholar, focusing on biographical figures and their collected literary works[munjip], which constitute the core materials for local studies. In particular, the author has recently been focusing on and conducting research into the Japjeo [Miscellaneous Writings] section found within collected works, and this paper is planned as an extension of that research. As part of this endeavor, we focused on <ChunchuGwaekjeon(春秋過客傳)> and <HyoguSeol(孝狗說)>, both included in the Japjeo(雜著) of Seong Eon-geun’s(成彦根) collected works, the 『Gaeunjip(稼隱集)』. The analysis centered on these two pieces, examining their structural aspects and the author's editorial consciousness, thereby intending to draw attention to the Japjeo materials in collected works. The following observations were made as a result: <ChunchuGwaekjeon(春秋過客傳)> utilizes a narrative method different from typical biographical accounts, as it combines two distinct individual anecdotes—one structuring the character through a dialogue-based (question-and- answer) format, and the other describing the distinctive features of the figure being introduced. Meanwhile, in the case of <HyoguSeol(孝狗說)>, the work is structured to express a specific theme, centering on the ‘filial dog’ anecdote inherited within the family network. Furthermore, an examination of the interrelation with other similar works by Gaeun confirms the mutual transmission and influence of stories based on communal relationships within the local society. These characteristics confirm that the tendency of the two works differs in direction from that of other pieces found in collected literary works.The reason this paper focuses on works contained in the Japjeo section, rather than those classified by standard literary genres in the munjip, is primarily the intention to unearth valuable works that have not been highlighted merely because of their Japjeo classification, and secondarily, because the author's consciousness is evident to a certain extent in these two Japjeo pieces. This research was conceived with the intention of critiquing the neglect of numerous materials categorized under the Japjeo section of collected works that have consequently not seen the light of day, and to highlight them as new subjects for research.
