Simulation-based education is recognized as an effective nursing education strategy, but the application and effectiveness verification of structured debriefing are required. The algorithm-based debriefing provides a structured visual aid that facilitates systematic debriefing, even by less experienced facilitators. This study aimed to examine the effects of algorithm-based debriefing for postpartum hemorrhage in nursing simulation education on problem-solving skill, nursing process confidence, and learning efficacy. The theme of simulation was selected as postpartum hemorrhage that is difficult for nursing students to deal with in clinical nursing practice. In a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design, a total of 43 third-year nursing students who voluntarily agreed to participate were included. This simulation was consisted of pre-briefing, simulation experience, and algorithm-based debriefing. The results revealed significant increases in problem-solving skills (t=5.76, p<.001), nursing process confidence (t=3.86, p<.001), and learning efficacy (t=3.91, p<.001) after the simulation. These finding indicate that algorithm-based debriefing for postpartum hemorrhage in nursing simulation education positively impacts problem-solving skill, nursing process confidence, and learning efficacy among nursing students. These findings provide fundamental data of various nursing simulation education strategies for postpartum hemorrhage. Based on the findings, large-scale studies are needed to validate its educational effectiveness of algorithm-based debriefing in nursing simulation education.
