The purpose of this paper is to investigate learners’ perceptions of TOEIC Speaking, a tool for evaluating practical English skills strongly required by the international community. The participants were 51 university students, who attended an intensive extra-curricular English course tor strengthen their language competency. The classes were provided for three hours every day for four weeks. In order to investigate the learners’ perception of TOEIC Speaking, a questionnaire with 17 items examining two dimensions of Learning Utility (LU) and Socio-occupational Utility (SU), and two mock TOEIC Speaking scores were collected. According to the analysis, no statistically significant correlation was found between learners’ perception and TOEIC Speaking mock test score, so this study attempted to derive educational implications by inferring the cause of this result. This study contributes to an in-depth understanding of the relationship between learners’ perception on the TOEIC speaking test.
