From Private Letters to Public Textbooks: The Semiotic Transformation of Long March Memories in Red Family Letters and the Construction of Pathways for Ideological and Political Education

This research explores the mechanisms of semiotic transformation through which “Red Family Letters” evolve from vessels of private sentiment into effective resources for public ideological and political education. As unique carriers of the Long March memory, these letters contain intrinsic somatic, emotional, and faith-based symbols that form the foundation for their transformative value. Somatic symbols convey a revolutionary will that transcends physical limits through embodied experience; emotional symbols bridge historical divides with their authentic humanity; and faith-based symbols link individual destiny to the national narrative. In practice, this transformation is achieved through multi-dimensional pathways, including systematic curation, multimedia reinterpretation, and ritualized performances, facilitating the reconstruction of symbolic meaning for the public sphere. This process not only overcomes the limitations of using historical materials in traditional ideological and political education but also constructs a multi-dimensional, interconnected educational framework by integrating into core curricula, campus culture, and social practice. Ultimately, transcending their original context, the Red Family Letters become dynamic teaching materials that activate historical memory and shape value identity, offering an innovative paradigm for ideological and political education in the new era that integrates theoretical depth with practical effectiveness.

本研究致力于探讨红色家书如何通过符号学转化机制,从私人情感载体转变为公共思想政治教育的有效资源。红色家书作为长征记忆的特殊载体,其内在的身体符号、情感符号与信仰符号构成了符号转化的价值基础。身体符号通过具身性体验传递超越生理极限的革命意志,情感符号以人性真实消解历史隔阂,信仰符号则将个体命运与民族叙事相联结。在转化实践中,通过系统化选编、多媒体再现与仪式化展演等多维路径,实现了符号意义的公共化重构。这一过程不仅突破了传统思政教育中史料运用的局限性,更通过融入课程主渠道、校园文化场域与社会实践课堂,构建起多维联动的教育路径。最终,红色家书得以超越其原始语境,成为激活历史记忆、塑造价值认同的生动教材,为新时代思政教育提供了兼具理论深度与实践效度的创新范式。
