This study conducted a corpus-based linguistic analysis of African Development Bank (AfDB) news data to establish an empirical foundation for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) education designed for Official Development Assistance (ODA) professionals. A total of 5,902 AfDB news articles published over a 10-year period from 2015 to 2025 were analyzed through keyword frequency analysis and network analysis. The analysis revealed that African Development Bank (3,027 occurrences), Africa (1,478), development (505), and climate (418) were the core keywords, with thematic distribution showing development sectors (29.8%), regions/countries (22.4%), and initiatives/programs (10.8%) in descending order. Network analysis identified a dual discourse structure consisting of execution-oriented discourse (56.73%) and policy-oriented discourse (37.43%), while climate and energy demonstrated high betweenness centrality, performing cross-sectoral bridging roles. This study holds academic and practical significance in that it empirically identifies actual language use patterns in the ODA field, thereby providing a foundation for ESP curriculum design, specialized terminology compilation, and learning material development.
