Factors Affecting the Adoption of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) in Jeju

For UAM to become a viable alternative to existing transportation in Jeju, analysis from both a technological and institutional perspective, as well as a user perspective, is crucial. This study analyzed factors influencing Jeju residents' willingness to adopt UAM. The analysis revealed that UAM technology directly influenced this willingness. Perceived ease of use partially mediated the relationship between trust and price acceptance. Therefore, for UAM to become a viable alternative to other modes of transportation in Jeju, it must first be accompanied by technological stability, such as accurate UAM aircraft movement and effective control in emergency situations. Next, it is crucial to ensure the reliability of UAM's ability to provide safe, high-quality transportation services with accurate operation. Finally, from a price perspective, the perceived economic benefit, defined as the trade-off between the benefits passengers receive from using UAM and the costs they must pay, must be provided. In summary, since the introduction of UAM is expected to bring about changes in urban space, continuous review of urban planning related to UAM operation is necessary.
