동양화론의 ‘상(象)’ 개념을 통한 한국화 교육의 수행성 탐구

Exploring the Performativity of Korean Painting Education through the Concept of ‘sang(象)’ in East Asian Painting Theory

본 연구는 동양화론의 핵심 개념인 ‘상(象)’을 중심으로 한국화 교육의 수행성을 탐구하고 재료의 물성과 감응의 과정을 통해 형성되는 인간의 내면적 성장과 그 교육학적 의의를 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구는 문헌연구를 중심으로 진행되었으며 象의 철학적 기원과 미학적 구조, 한국화 교육의 수행적 학습 체계, 그리고 수행적 회화 행위의 교육적 의미를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 한국화의 회화 행위는 외형적 재현에 머무르지 않고 재료와의 감응과 몰입을 통해 의미와 존재를 형성해 가는 실천적 과정으로 해석되었다. 한국화 교육의 수행성은 첫째, 행위와 감응의 통합을 통한 예술적 생성, 둘째, 물성과 정신의 상호작용에 기반한 형상화 과정, 셋째, 감응–표현–성찰로 이어지는 순환적 학습 경험의 구조로 정리된다. 이러한 수행적 구조는 예술 행위를 단순한 표현 기술의 습득을 넘어 수양과 몰입이 결합된 경험적 배움으로 확장시키며, 학습자의 내면적 성찰과 인성 형성을 촉진하는 교육적 장으로 기능한다. 본 연구는 동양 화론의 象 개념을 토대로 한국화 교육의 수행적 성격을 이론적으로 정리함으로써, 예술 행위를 인간의 감각·행위·사유가 통합되는 교육적 실천으로 재조명하는 데 의의를 지닌다.

This study examines the performative nature of Korean painting education through the core concept of sang (象) in East Asian painting theory and explores its educational significance in relation to materiality, affective engagement, and inner human development. Based on a literature review, the study analyzes the philosophical origins and aesthetic structure of sang, the performative learning framework of Korean painting education, and the educational implications of painting as a performative practice. The findings suggest that painting in Korean painting education is not limited to visual representation but functions as a practical process in which meaning and existence are formed through immersion and affective interaction with materials. The performativity of Korean painting education can be understood through three interrelated dimensions:the integration of action and affective responsiveness, the formative interaction between materiality and mind, and a cyclical learning experience of affective engagement, expression, and reflection. By articulating the performative characteristics of Korean painting education grounded in the concept of sang, this study reconceptualizes art education as an educational practice that integrates sensation, action, and thought, and highlights its role in fostering inner reflection and character development.
