Examining the Psychometric Properties of a Professionalism Scale for School Counselors

목적 본 연구는 전문상담교사 전문성 인식 척도를 재구조화하고 타당도를 검증하고자 하였다. 방법 전국 17개 시·도에서 근무하는 초·중·고등학교 현직 전문상담교사 205명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하여 탐색·확인적 요인분석을 실시하고, 신뢰도 및 타당도를 검증하였다. 결과 본 연구의 결과 전문가 역량, 윤리적 실천, 전문 학술단체 활동, 사회적 인정으로 구성된 4요인 16문항 구조가 도출되었고, 소진 및 대인관계 유능성과의 유의한 관련성도 확인되었다. 결론 본 연구에서 타당화 한 척도는 전문상담교사의 전문성 인식을 체계적으로 평가하고, 전문성 향상을 위한 교육·연구에 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다.

Objectives This study aimed to reconstruct and validate a professionalism scale for school counselors in South Korea. Methods Participants included 205 school counselors from elementary, middle, and high schools across 17 regions in South Korea. We conducted exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses and examined the scale's reliability and validity. Results A four-factor, 16-item structure (professional competence, ethical practice, engagement in professional scholarly associations, and social recognition) was identified. Scale scores were significantly associated with burnout and interpersonal competence. Conclusions The validated scale provides a foundational tool for systematically assessing school counselors’ perceived professionalism and for informing education and research aimed at enhancing their professional competence.
